Advent Care Packages 2020

Advent Care Packages

Our gift services have had to be cancelled due to coronavirus guidelines, but people are still in need of our help. Items as detailed below are still needed and can be left at The Vicarage in Stithians up until 29th November.

Advent Care Packages

This Advent our Assistant Curate is asking the churches within our cluster to donate ‘care packages’ for young people aged 16 – 25 who have been in the care system, also known as ‘care leavers’. Being a child in the ‘care system’ is never easy, then there are additional challenges as they make the transition into adult independence. Whilst we as a group of churches are not able to change the situation of these young people, we can acknowledge them, let them know that they are seen and not forgotten.

Carefree is an organisation that supports young people in Cornwall who have left care. They started in 2005 by six young people and a youth worker. Now they are a leading provider within the county, building confidence, self-awareness and resilience of young people leaving care.

For this Advent, Richard would like to invite you to contribute by donating various items that can be made up into ‘packages’. Ideally, these would be relating to personal care / toiletries, along with a Christmas card, maybe some confectionery. Gift bags would also be very welcome.

Richard will need to collect all the donations by Sunday 29th November ensuring that the gifts are available to Carefree for delivery.

If you need further information, please contact Richard on 07484616499.
